A trip to my local zoo is always exciting and always ends with me having thousands of photos to sort through. Although I'm not really in support of having animals in captivity, it is undeniable that zoos offer close-up interactions with wildlife to many people who otherwise won't have the chance to do so, including myself. Siantar Zoo in Pematangsiantar city, Indonesia is far from being a perfect zoo, but it allows me to see these wonderful animals and capture their close-up shots. The reachability of the enclosures allows me to capture close and intimate portraits of these animals, revealing the beauties within their facial details, which I find truly fascinating. I do hope that one day I will be able to photograph animals in the wild, in nature, and capture their beauty where they actually belong.
