The heat was overwhelming on 23 July 2016 at MILLIAN SINGAPORE as Japanese band flumpool, made up of Ryuta Yamamura (Vocal), Kazuki Sakai (Guitar), Genki Amakawa (Bass), and Seiji Ogura (Drums), came to town to bring the house down for their tour, titled flumpool tour 2016 “WHAT ABOUT EGGS?” ~Singapore Special~. The last time they were in Singapore was in 2014, for their first solo concert event.

The Concert

During the concert, the band did not disappoint with their repertoire of 17 songs which included tracks from their latest album “EGG” as well as old favourites. Ryuta also impressed the audience with his impeccable Mandarin when he sang 2 Chinese songs. And at the end of their concert, fans wanted more and were rewarded with not 2, not 3, but 4 encore songs!

Canon Photo Party

The “WHAT ABOUT EGGS” ~Singapore Special~ concert was also special for another reason. For the very first time in a flumpool concert, fans were allowed to take photos of the band, for the duration of one song. This was part of the Canon Photo Party, a campaign by Canon. Attendees just needed to register for a Canon Photo Pass beforehand.

The organizers had hoped that the Canon Photo Party would provide a new kind of concert experience for flumpool fans. After all, it was a rare chance for them to capture their own photographs of flumpool, live in concert.  And indeed, response was overwhelming. Even after registration closed, there were still many enquiries about the Canon Photo Pass. Limited numbers of the latest Canon camera models were made for available for loan on-site, and these also proved very popular as all were loaned out almost instantly!

Throughout the concert, Canon Photo Pass holders eagerly anticipated the announcement of the selected song for the Canon Photo Party. When Ryuta announced that the chosen song was “Akashi (Zeng Ming),” they whipped out their cameras, ready to capture flumpool at their best.

After the concert, fans were invited to submit their best photo taken during the Canon Photo Party to enter a photo contest. flumpool themselves personally chose four winners from the entries. Each winner walked away with one Canon SELPHY printer as well as signed merchandise from flumpool.

Here are the four winning photos selected by flumpool, and their comments for each photo.
