Wings of a freshly emerged cicada! Monsoon is the time when plenty of cicada emerge from the ground as nymp for the final stage What does the colour of the wings indicate ? As soon as cicada breaks out of the nymphal shell, it starts inflating it’s wings with fluid known as hemolymph which are equivalent to blood for invertebrates and the hemolymphs are copper based proteins that turns blue in colour when exposed to oxygen which gradually turn to green as in the picture Nature is beautiful than I ever imagined, a true example of how colourful nature is, not just colour by words, colours by life !
