Christmas is over and it's the New Year! Instead of just packing up your Christmas tree and it's decorative pieces, take some creative shots with the Christmas baubles as props! Shoot from a different perspective – use the bauble’s reflective surface for a quirky and fisheye lens-like result, or a transparent one as a ‘helmet’ in a portrait. Think creatively and be surprised by the outcome of your photos.

Quirky Group Shot
Use reflective baubles to create quirky shots with a nice curved perspective (almost like a fisheye lens). Stand close to the bauble or zoom closer to capture the surface of the bauble effectively. Take note that silver baubles are the best for its reflective surface, whereas other coloured ones such as gold, ruby and emerald are darker and harder to capture the reflection of your subject. After you get your baubles sorted, get creative with the poses!

Look Futuristic and All Sci-Fi
If you have a transparent/translucent Christmas bauble, place it close to your lens, and frame it in a way that it rests on the shoulders of your subject. This creates an illusion that the person you are photographing is wearing a space helmet, and is an intriguing way to shoot portraits besides the usual pose-and-shoot.

Mirrors and Multiples
Ever heard of an infinity mirror? Use two reflective silver baubles to recreate the effect by placing them side by side. The surfaces of the baubles become a pair of parallel mirrors, thereby creating smaller reflections that recede into an infinite distance. Even though silver baubles are not as clear and reflective as an actual mirror, they give the photographer an interesting perspective and a play on space and distance.
