On 5 January 2017, Canon announced the PowerShot G9 X Mark II. While it has the same slim, stylish design as its predecessor, the PowerShot G9 X, users can expect an upgrade in image quality thanks to the new, powerful DIGIC 7 image processor.(Reported by: Makoto Suzuki (Digital Camera Watch))

Not just DIGIC 7, but Bluetooth, too

The PowerShot G9 X Mark is a pocket-sized camera equipped with a 1 inch-type, 20.1-megapixel sensor with a 3x optical zoom allowing 35mm-format equivalent focal lengths of 28-84mm. It has the same exterior design and lens specifications as its predecessor, the PowerShot G9 X, and comes in black and silver body colour options.

Advancements from the predecessor lie in the new DIGIC 7 image processor, and in the camera’s enhanced subject tracking and detection capabilities. Other additions include a new panning assist feature and in-camera RAW conversion.

Connectivity-wise, support for Bluetooth low energy technology has been added to the standard Wi-Fi/NFC. This allows a constant connection to smartphones and other compatible devices, paving the way for smooth, uninterrupted remote operation—even when the camera is switched off.

The PowerShot G9 X Mark II also shares the same 3.0-inch, 1.04 million-dot touch panel LCD rear monitor and battery pack (NB-13L) as its predecessor.

External dimensions are 98 × 57.9 × 31.3mm, and the camera weighs 206g including battery pack and recording media.
