[Question 7] Are there any easy ways to take artistic photos?
If you wish to make your shots appear more artistic, the Creative filters, which allow you to change the atmosphere of a photo drastically with ease, will come in handy. A1: Image Processing with Creative Filters
Display the image to which an effect is to be added, and press the [Q/SET] button.
Select the desired filter, and tap the [Q/SET] menu on the LCD monitor screen.
Select the strength and hue of the effect, and tap the [SET] menu to save the image applied with the effect as a new file.
What Are Creative Filters?
With the Creative filters feature, you can add special effects to your photos. They can be applied either during or after shooting. 7 filter effects are available.

A2: Layering Effects for More Artistic Ambience
Adhering to the procedure described in A1, the [Fish-eye effect] filter was set to "Strong" and applied to the original photo, resulting in a unique, distorted image.
The procedure in A1 was then applied a second time to the filtered image, adding the [Toy camera effect] (set to "Cool") to the fish-eye effect previously applied. The reduction of peripheral illumination on top of the blue-green tint brings out a unique flavour.
Let's Try Different Effects!
3. [Soft focus] + [Art bold effect]
Applying [Soft focus] first helps to moderate the powerful [Art bold effect], thereby bringing out the vivid colours of the flowers.
3. [Fish-eye effect] + [Toy camera effect]
After applying [Fish-eye effect] to deform the sandwich into a round shape, I added [Toy camera effect (Cool)]. The blue hue helps to create a curious atmosphere.
3. [Miniature effect] + [Grainy B/W]
First, I miniaturised the townscape with [Miniature effect], and then applied [Grainy B/W] to make the image evoke the memories of the good old days.
Ogura's work in photography expands from shooting photographic works to development and printing films. He is one of the tutors at the "Camera Biyori Photography School". He started his career as an engineer at a film laboratory and later establishes his own "mogu camera" lab. He also runs the "mogu sun" portrait studio.
Shimamoto is a professional photographer who studied abroad in America after graduating from senior high school. After taking up photography in San Francisco, she returned to Japan in 2005 where she currently shoots for magazines, advertisements, CD covers etc.
