Released at the end of this September, the Canon PowerShot SX60 HS is the world’s first digital camera equipped with a lens that features 65x optical zoom. The focal length is equivalent to 21-mm at the wide-angle end and 1,365 mm at the telephoto end (with a 35-mm equivalent focal length for both). The camera boasts an unprecedented focal length range in terms of the angle of view that can be covered by a single lens.

At first sight, it might look exactly the same as an entry model DSLR fitted with a standard zoom lens. The depth of the grip makes the camera easy to hold and brings to mind the grip of a DSLR.

The image sensor is a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor with an effective pixel count of 16.1 megapixels. RAW images can also be recorded.

The maximum ISO speed is ISO3200.
