The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 was held in Las Vegas, Nevada, from 5-8 January 2017. Held annually, CES is arguably the world's largest trade show for consumer technology. Let's have a look at the Canon booth which displayed the PowerShot G9 X Mark II, which has been announced just recently. (Reported by Syohei Yamada)
This year marks the 50th anniversary of CES, and much like previous years, the event was visited by many industry affiliates. Canon had set up an extensive booth, as they have done every year, at the usual place in the central hall. The booth displayed popular camera, lens, and printer models, as well as a just-recently-announced new product, and attracted interest from many attendees.
At this year's event, the booth featured the PowerShot G9 X Mark II, which had been announced as a new product just prior to the start of CES 2017. Together with this latest compact camera, a touch-and-try corner had been provided by Canon, decorated with trifles, such as desserts and colourful cocktails, for visitors to gets hand-on experience shooting. Both the PowerShot G9 X Mark II and the touch-and-try corner gained lots of attention.
The PowerShot G9 X Mark II features in its classic form a 1.0-inch sensor, a Canon-made lens, and DIGIC 7 image processor, incorporating state-of-the-art technology. By fitting this latest incarnation with Bluetooth Low Energy wireless technology, connecting wirelessly to your smartphone and other devices has become even more convenient.
While distinctively slim and stylish, its design is reminiscent of classic cameras of old, with an air of nostalgia. Many visitors of the booth were found trying out the camera, how it feels in the hand and how it shoots, and were captivated by its charm.
Though not displayed at CES together with the PowerShot G9 X Mark II, there were three additional compact digital camera models announced worldwide: PowerShot SX430 IS, IXUS 185 and IXUS 190.

Additionally, at the Canon booth there was a corner where a 3D Scan-to-3D Print booth by SOLIDIPHY, a company which Canon has partnered with, was set up. For those visitors interested, the booth, which featured 130 EOS Rebel SL1 (also known as the EOS 100D) DSLRs, would capture a 3D image of their attire and posture, and then 3D print a life-like figurine using the data. This booth was so popular that people were lining up to await their turn.
