Like to share couple of pictures that i shot during late afternoon. Two factors that can affect landscape photography is Composition and Timing of photography. One important tip is to identify a subject for the picture and include surrounding points of interest that can enhance or balance the main subject. Another is the timing of photography. In our equator-located Singapore, late morning to mid-noon will not be ideal time for nice landscape in view of the harsh overhead lighting and contrasty shadows. The golden and blue hour would be best to impart a nice ambience to your landscape. The other helpful (or necessary) tools would be neutral density filters and specialised filters such as Nisi Night Light Filter. I never leave for a landscape photo session without those gems, other than my trusty tripod. The two pictures below are from same location but shot with the abovementioned techniques. Which one appeals to you? Photo data- Canon EOS 5DMkIV Lenses - Canon EF16-35mm F4L IS Shot on RAW, edited in Photoshop CS6 Pic 1 - 30s, F6.3, ISO50.
