Ability to shoot in RAW format
Sometimes a scene begs to be shot in black and white, and other times, in all its coloured glory. But then there are those times when you simply can’t decide, which is where the EOS M5’s RAW format option comes in. This image was originally shot in black and white in RAW format, but when I returned home, I realized I wanted to show my friends how the beautiful old building came alive with the light from the lamps. Good thing I shot in RAW, because I was easily able to convert it back to colour!

Never miss a detail
With its 24.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS Sensor, you’ll never miss a moment or lose a detail, even when you’re shooting from far away. These images were shot with the EOS M range’s telephoto lens, and boasts stunning detail even when zoomed in. I found this particularly handy for skittish wildlife!

Touchscreen is a clear winner
I sneakily snapped this shot utilizing the EOS M5’s touchscreen focus function, and despite shooting through a wire frame, managed to get exactly the shot I wanted. I find that the touchscreen works especially well with the camera’s flip screen when shooting from awkward positions (this was shot with the camera held at hip height).
Also, I found the touchscreen especially handy coupled with touchscreen-friendly gloves. The temperature often fell below zero and I loved that I didn’t have to sacrifice my fingers to the biting winds to adjust settings or shoot.

Night shooting is a breeze
With an ISO range that goes up to 25,600, it doesn’t matter whether you’re out exploring day or night. The camera performs superbly even in low light conditions, with minimal noise and compromise of image quality due to its sensor and high-performing image processor.

Small, but powerful
For the avid traveler, the thing you’ll appreciate most about the EOS M5 is its size; it packs a punch despite its small body, making it appropriate for everything from café food snaps to street photography. Even with the longer telephoto lens attached to it, it fit in even my smaller handbag and weighs a fraction of a regular DSLR.
