On 29 August 2017, Canon announced three new macro-capable interchangeable tilt-shift lenses: the TS-E50mm f/2.8L Macro, TS-E90mm f/2.8L Macro and TS-E135mm f/4L Macro. All three lenses belong to the luxury L-series lineup.  (Reported by: Makoto Suzuki (Digital Camera Watch))

Canon has announced three new models of its TS-E lenses, which enable tilt-shift photography on 35mm DSLR cameras: the TS-E50mm f/2.8L Macro, TS-E90mm f/2.8L Macro and TS-E135mm f/4L Macro.

These three new lenses not only promise improvements in image quality over existing TS-E lenses but also a higher magnification ratio, in response to user demands for a longer focal length. Out of the three, two of the lenses, the TS50mm f/2.8L Macro (close to the existing TS-E45mm f/2.8) and the TS-E90mm f/2.8L Macro (successor to the TS-E90mm f/2.8) are enhanced versions of existing lenses. Their release as L-series lenses, known for high image quality and outstanding optical performance, is part of the performance upgrade.

Among the most outstanding features shared by three new lenses are the huge increase in maximum magnification of 0.5x and the macro shooting capability that this brings about. The combination of macro capability with the tilt-shift mechanism will enable better close-up shooting with a large depth-of-field, increasing possibilities especially in product photography, one of the genres where TS-E lenses are most commonly used.

All three new lenses are equipped with the TS rotation feature, which lets users rotate the axes of movement for tilting by 90 degrees in the shift direction. Focusing is manual on all three lenses, which all feature a 9-blade circular aperture.

More details of each lens below.
