Advance into the next generation of content creation with EOS R5 Mark II
The EOS R5 Mark II sets a new benchmark for videography and photography with two pillars of technology – Accelerated Capture and Deep Learning.
Accelerated Capture: Back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor + DIGIC X + DIGIC Accelerator
Three components make up the Accelerated Capture system – a back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor, DIGIC X image processor, and DIGIC Accelerator.
With the faster readout speed of the back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor, rolling shutter distortion is greatly reduced. DIGIC X image processor is paired with the latest DIGIC Accelerator to instantly process huge amount of data from the new full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor and perform high-level analysis. This innovation powers a range of key functions such as high-speed shooting, fast and accurate AF tracking, and simultaneous photo and video recording.
Deep Learning
Deep Learning technology, which employs a complex neural network and analysis algorithm, is also integrated into EOS R5 Mark II. Working in tandem with the Accelerated Capture system brings about groundbreaking improvements in areas such as AF recognition and speed, noise reduction, in-camera upscaling, and accuracy in auto exposure and white balance.
For those eyeing the next big creation, you can rely on EOS R5 Mark II to lead you into a new realm of creativity with the following key features:
Autofocus that support both photography and videography
Dual Pixel Intelligent AF | The next generation autofocus technology that brings about significant improvements in subject detection and tracking in photography and videography. |
Action Priority AF | This new autofocus tracking can recognise unique actions in soccer, basketball and volleyball. AF is automatically switched to the subject performing the crucial action. |
Register People Priority AF | Register your subjects' faces in the camera to persistently track them even when their frontal view is not facing the camera. This AF tracking is particularly useful for shooting concerts, sports or scenes involving multiple people. |
Eye Control AF | Shift focus between multiple fast subjects using your eye movements as you look through the viewfinder. |
Movie shooting capabilities
EOS R5 Mark II integrates Cinema EOS features to expand the way you create movie content.
Recording formats | 8K 60p RAW, 4K 60p SRAW, 4K 120p, 2K 40p, FHD 240p |
Canon Log 2 & 3 | Experience more flexibility in post-production when you shoot in Canon Log. Canon Log 2: Preserves details in medium to dark areas and compatible with production settings Canon Log 3: Genrates less noise in dark areas, easier for colour grading |
Movie Digital IS | The built-in 5-axis in-body image stabiliser reduces blur from camera shake even when using a lens without an optical IS (OIS) system. |
Simultaneous Proxy Recording | Further streamline your workflow with simultaneous proxy recording. Record smaller-sized proxy footage concurrently alongside the high-quality RAW footage. The proxy footage allows for faster file transfers and reduces time for offline editing, before applying the edits to the original footage. |
Superior image quality
The newly developed full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor delivers a resolution of up to 45 megapixels and an ISO speed of up to 51200. This combination provides outstanding image quality, allowing you to capture impressive details even in dimly lit situations, or handheld night shots with minimal camera shake.
In-camera Upscaling | Using deep learning technology, the EOS R5 Mark II can upscale your JPEG or HEIF files by doubling the number of pixels vertically and horizontally from 45 megapixels to approx. 179 megapixels. |
Neural Network Noise Reduction | Neural Network Noise Reduction generates images with reduced noise when processing RAW images within the camera, giving you sharp images. This is especially useful when taking night shots at high ISO speeds. |
In-Body Image Stabilization | The built-in 5-axis in-body image stabiliser reduces blur from camera shake even when using a lens without an optical IS (OIS) system. When paired with a compatible RF lens, up to 8.5 stops of effectiveness is achieved. |
