Q: How can I produce photos with an artistic feel?

A: You can add Creative Filters to your image. By adorning your photos with cool effects, you can inject new life into bland scenes.

How to use "Creative filters" in the "Creative Auto" mode

*You can also apply the "Creative filters" in the "Av," "Tv," and "M" modes.

1: Tap the "Q" icon at the top right of the screen

Tap the "Q" icon, which is the shortcut for the Quick Control menu.

2: Select an effect

Tap the fourth icon from the top of the left column. The different types of effects will appear as icons at the bottom of the screen.

3: Adjust the level of the effect

Some filters supports varying degrees of adjustment to attain your desired vision. [Soft focus] allows you to adjust the degree of blurring in three levels. [Toy camera effect] comes with three types of colour tone settings, [Warm tone], [Standard], and [Cool tone], while the focusing position and direction can be selected in [Miniature effect].

Recommended Filters

Soft Focus

Before

The [Soft focus] Creative filter softens the overall image to create a dreamy effect. Ideal for flowers, portraits and wedding photos or subjects with a pale colour tone.

Toy Camera Effect (Warm Tone)

Toy Camera Effect (Cool Tone)

Before

The [Toy camera effect] creates the vintage effect of a "toy" or "first generation" camera; ideal for giving portraits a cool, offbeat dimension with a slightly distorted, unevenly saturated look. This filter comes with a choice of three settings - Standard, Warm and Cool.

Miniature Effect

Before

The [Miniature effect] blurs the edges of the frame to make  subjects look like small-scale models. Great for landscapes and city shots.

Canon's first mirrorless camera, the EOS M, comes in four colour variations (black, red, white, and silver) so you can pick your favourite!
