Canon has announced the PowerShot SX730 HS, which is the successor to the PowerShot SX720 HS that was announced in March 2016. Adopting features from its former model, it has also been designed to meet the demands of selfie-taking. (Reported by: Nao Iiduka)

Take selfies easily with its approx. 180-degree LCD tilt screen

The main features of the PowerShot SX730 HS include its 40x zoom magnification (a 35mm equivalent of a 24-960mm focal length), the 1/2.3-inch 20.3-effective megapixel CMOS sensor, DIGIC 6 image processor and a maximum ISO speed of 3200.

The camera features a 180-degree tilt-type LCD screen (3-inch/ approx. 0.92 mega dot), which makes it easy to take selfies. One of the major features is the Self Portrait mode, which is available to be selected directly on the Mode Dial.

Furthermore, Smooth Skin mode, which had only been available in Self Portrait mode, can also be used in normal shooting. Selecting Smooth Skin mode under the Special Scene Mode enables you to choose between 3 levels of smoothening effect.

Also, for network communications, in addition to being able to use Wi-Fi and NFC, the PowerShot SX730 HS has newly implemented Bluetooth low energy technology, which enables a constant connection to be maintained, and also provides a greater ease in network connectivity. When connected using Bluetooth, you can connect the camera to a smartphone via Wi-Fi without having to operate through the camera, which makes it much easier to make full use of Wi-Fi features.

With a constant connection enabled, using the dedicated Camera Connect app creates more user convenience, such as enabling you to use your smartphone as a remote controller for the camera.

In this region, the PowerShot SX730 HS comes in one colour combination: black and dark grey (as pictured). The body of the camera also features a soft grip with a textured surface on the front and back of the camera to enable a firm grip on the camera.
