EF-S15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM – A notch higher in optical performance and design
Through this lens review series, you will learn how to build your own lens system as we go through the recommended lens for all APS-C users. In this article, we will focus on the high zoom EF-S15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM. (Reported by: Ryosuke Takahashi)
High image quality throughout the zoom range
Covering an angle of view that is equivalent to about 24 to 136mm in the 35mm format, the EF-S15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM supports a wide array of photography genres from portrait to landscape. It is capable of producing highly-expressive depictions, such as a spectacular expanse at the wide-angle end and producing large bokeh effect at the telephoto end. It comes with a UD lens and three aspherical lens elements, enabling fine image quality throughout the entire zoom range. The IS function, which offers a correction effect equivalent to about four shutter-speed stops, makes the lens an effective choice for shooting under low-light conditions. Most of all, there is negligible distortion in the depictions at the wide-angle end, and images are sharply resolved up to the peripheral areas.
