Introducing the latest professional 4K UHD compact camcorders in the XA series XA60/65 and XA70/75.

Canon’s XA series professional-use camcorders deliver the high image quality and high mobility required for on-location videography in fields such as broadcasting, reporting, documentary, and event shooting.

The newly announced XA75 and XA70 models inherit the same high performance of their predecessor models (XA50 and XA55), while adding new support for UVC (USB Video Class) communication protocol that enables video transfer via USB connection. With this new feature, the cameras are better suited for use in the increasingly popular field of livestreaming, for video shooting and content creation.

In this article:

XA60/65 vs XA70/75

  • 1/2.3-inch Type CMOS 4K camcorder
  • DIGIC DV 6 image processor
  • 20x optical zoom
  • Hybrid AF III
  • 3G-SDI output (only on XA65)
  • 5-axis stabilisation
  • USB-C output for UVC live streaming

The XA60 and XA65 are equipped with a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor. With a smaller sensor size, the cameras can offer a greater zoom range  20x optical zoom. Coupled with its small, compact and lightweight body (measuring approximately 109 mm (W) x 84 mm (H) x 182 mm (D) and weighing approximately 750g), the XA60 and XA65 are ideal for broadcast, news gathering and sports.

  • 1.0-inch Type CMOS 4K camcorder
  • DIGIC DV 6 image processor
  • 15x optical zoom
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF
  • 3G-SDI output (only on XA75)
  • 5-axis stabilisation
  • USB-C output for UVC live streaming

Equipped with a 1-inch CMOS sensor, the XA70 and XA75 offer a wider dynamic range and better low-light capability. The large sensor enables capture of video footage with exquisite background blur and bright, high-sensitivity recording with minimal noise in low-light environments. With Dual Pixel CMOS AF on these cameras, you can also be assured of fast and accurate detection of your subjects in low light conditions. XA70 and XA75 are ideal for live streaming.

Despite its compact and lightweight body, these camcorders are capable of professional recording and live streaming.

4 Key Features That Makes XA60/65 and XA70/75 Best for Live Streaming

With Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, the XA70 and XA75 are capable of achieveing smooth autofocus and subject tracking during live broadcast shooting. Even during 4K shooting, when precision is crucial, the intuitive touch panel operations enable quick and accurate focusing.

AF area can be moved intuitively with touch When a face is detected within the frame,it prioritises keeping focus on the face When the face is no longer detected, it returns to the original focus position

2. Amazing Zoom Capability

XA60/65 and XA70/75 come with high-quality zoom lenses with 5-axis Image Stabilization for sharp stable images.

XA60/65 has 20x optical zoom and 800x digital zoom, while XA70/XA75 has 15x optical zoom and 600x optical zoom.

Did you know that you can also pair the amazing zoom capability with the new on-screen display recording (OSD) function and use these camcorders as a surveilance camera? With OSD, information such as date, time, time code and other text on the screen can be recorded and be used for verification.
