With the 30th Southeast Asian Games just ended, I would like to say special thanks to Ma’am Harvey V. Chua and G-nie Arambulo of Adphoto for loaning me a Canon 5D Mark III which served as my back-up camera to my 5DM4. G-nie said the late John Chua owned it. I was humbled and privileged to be shooting with a camera which formerly belonged to a man, I and most photographers looked up to and admired. I told myself “swerte ito” (I'm lucky). As I was covering the Women’s Volleyball game between the Philippines and Thailand, i got tired with my main camera, attached with a bulky 600mm lens and got hold of John’s, with a smaller 70-200mm. Just as I was focusing when I saw Dawn Macandili of the Philippine team runs to save a spike. In her rush she tripped on the LED barrier, somersaulted head first with teammate Alyssa Valdez trying to catch her. I posted it on Facebook and boom, it went viral. The photo was also one of ESPN 5’s best photos of the SEA Games. Thanks John, with that camera, I know your spirit was with me during the games.
