The Honey Bee Eaters of Seletar

Dear friends, do you like bird photography? I just attempted my 1st genuine birding session today and loved the experience. Like in any genre, bird photography requires suitable gear and techniques to produce desired pictures. I had the opportunity to put the Canon EF600mm F4L IS MkI (on loan from Canon Singapore) on the grind with my Canon EOS 5DmkIV. Both are relatively old technology - the 600mm lens is a mk1 model introduced in 1999 while the 5DmkIV was launched in 2016. Some people even describe this lens as a "museum relic". When compared with the latest camera technology, it became apparent that older tech gears require more conscious input by the user to achieve a similar result. Either way, the process of acquiring that prized moment is just as enriching and satisfying for the shooter. I love my 5DmkIV, but I feel it's way past time to move on. Hope you like the pictures of the beautiful Blue Tailed Bee Eaters, shot at Seletar Aerospace Park. Gears - Lens: Canon EF600mm F4L IS MK1. Camera: Canon EOS 5DmkIV. Tripod Sirui T2204X Carbon Fiber Tripod with Manfrotto MHX BHQ2 ball head. Shutter triggered by cable release.
