Inheriting the new RF mount from the revolutionary EOS R system, the EOS RP is designed to support the
exceptional image quality of RF lenses.
Featuring a large diameter, a short flange-back distance, and a new high-speed communication system, the
new mount opens up new possibilities for better-balanced lens design, allowing for a sleek and compact
camera body.
The rotatable 3.0-inch Vari-angle touchscreen LCD on EOS RP increases the variety of scenes you can shoot. Taking photos from high or low angles has never been easier.
When shooting videos, the EOS RP gives you full control of your artistic expression. Aperture can now be adjusted in 1/8-stop increments, making it easier to select the ideal exposure to match lighting conditions.
The EOS RP is equipped with an HDMI port that outputs 8-bit, 4K movies that can be recorded or displayed on external devices to improve production workflow.
ISO sensitivity on the EOS RP is designed to handle any challenging lighting conditions without compromising image quality. An ISO range of 100 – 40,000 (for stills)⁴ allows for quicker shutter speed, avoiding camera or subject blurring.
Autofocus on the EOS RP can operate in near total darkness at EV-5⁵, making it effortless to focus on hard-to-see subjects.
All Canon RF lenses offer extremely high-quality imaging performance throughout the entire image. Prime lenses can achieve a full open aperture of f/1.2 while zoom lenses can provide a constant f/2 brightness throughout its zoom range.
With a wider focusing area of 88% x 100%, AF can still be used when composing pictures with subjects in a corner of the frame
EOS RP features a 0.39-inch high-resolution 2.36 million-pixel OLED EVF. The high eye point design makes viewing through the EVF easy. The detailed data displayed allow users to comfortably adjust settings and shoot while looking through the viewfinder.
The best scene captured on motion can now be reproduced as high-quality stills with 4K Frame Grab. Frames extracted from a 4K movie footage is saved as JPEG in resolution as high as 8.3MP (3840 x 2160), allowing you to print out the image clearly in A3.
Notes:
● Extracted still images cannot be resized or trimmed.
● Still images cannot be extracted from full-HD movie footage.
● Since one frame of movie footage is saved as a still picture, the quality of the extracted image is less than that of still images taken in regular photo shooting mode.
