Colours in the SAF promote esprit de corps and instil pride and loyalty in our soldiers. There are two types of Colours in the SAF – the State Colours and the Regimental Colours. State Colours are awarded to the three Services and SAFTI Military Institute, while Regimental Colours are conferred upon units and formations that have attained operational capability or made commendable achievements. The Regimental Colours are carried by 36 Colours Ensigns, also accompanied by 36 Colours Escorts. Collectively, the Colours Party are made up of 80 participants and it represents the pride and loyalty of the servicemen to their units, formations and Singapore.
