Travelling Perth, Australia with the Canon EOS 77D
What comes to mind when one mentions Perth? A sophisticated cosmopolitan city with a myriad of bars and restaurants, a laid-back Aussie lifestyle, and almost perfect weather (think warm, dry summers and mild winters). If you have only 48 hours in Perth, we suggest skipping the big city attractions and head south on a road trip where you’ll find beauty in its pristine beaches, rustic farms, and picturesque towns – a true Australian experience. Follow our story as we capture these with the Canon EOS 77D.

About 25-kilometres south of Perth city, Fremantle Markets is Western Australia’s most well-known market. It is where you’ll find fresh local produce, organic goods, indigenous products, music and events, as well as the chance to immerse yourself in the markets’ century-old heritage architecture and history. Perth’s beautiful weather also means you’ll get ample sunshine as you enjoy an acai bowl or an aromatic cup of latte, al fresco style. With all these combined you’ll get the opportunity to practise your street, still life, portrait and architecture photography, all in one place!

Continue south along the scenic coastal route and you’ll get to Belvidere Beach. A good break from the city, expect to see a variety of animals such as birds, kangaroos and possum roaming in the vicinity – presenting the perfect chance to practise photographing wildlife. Fancy spending a night in the wild? Several campsites are also available a few kilometres inland, a popular weekend destination for locals who love to enjoy an outdoor respite.
Nature is beautiful, but we also need to learn to respect them. Read more about this in Respecting Nature: Tips on Wildlife Photography.

Busselton
EOS 77D, EF24-70mm f/2.8L II USM lens, f/2.8, 70mm, 1/1000sec, ISO100
One of the main attractions in Busselton is its jetty. Standing at 1.841km long, Busselton Jetty is known for being the longest timber piled jetty in the southern hemisphere. When you are there, use the lines you see to create an illusion that the jetty stretches on forever. Couple that with a beautiful depth of field and an occasional seagull and you’ll get a good shot of this well-known Australian landmark.

Sometimes the best way to discover photo opportunities is to be on the move – visiting places and exploring new things. A road trip around Perth proves that beauty is not limited to within cities, but so much more outside. The best tip to taking good photographs? Go out there and shoot as much as you can.
