Canon announced its new EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM lens on 15 September 2016. Driven by Nano USM, this telephoto zoom lens is expected to provide images with a higher definition. (Reported by: Makoto Suzuki (Digital Camera Watch))

Renewed version of popular telephoto zoom comes with 4-stop image stabilisation

Canon has announced the EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM lens, which supports 35mm full-frame DSLR cameras.

As the successor to the EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens released in 2005, the new lens aims to provide users with a telephoto zoom that is reasonably priced. Its unique features are its use of the tiny, microchip-shaped ultrasonic motor, Nano USM, and also, for the first time on an EF lens, the inclusion of an LCD panel that can display information about shooting distance, focal length and degree of camera shake. Image stabilisation is also improved, correcting camera shake by up to 4 shutter speed stops.

The lens construction consists of 17 elements in 12 groups. The minimum focusing distance is 1.2m over the entire zoom range. The lens uses a 9-blade aperture, and the filter size is 67mm.

The maximum outer diameter × length is 80 ×145.5mm. The lens weighs approximately 710g. It is compatible with Lens Hood ET-74B, sold separately.
