Ho Tan Xa Lake, Hoa Lac
Length: 5km walk / 10km run
In her third running adventure, Mong joins a local running club, the Hash Hound Harriers, as they hit the dirt roads of Hanoi’s countryside. Following a trail set by the ‘Hares’, the runners race to a mystery end location, where a crate of beer awaits.
Mong will help the Hares lay the trail on this race, which typically winds through wooded areas, paddy fields and small villages.

Explore Hanoi Train Street
Amid the hectic, narrow streets of Hanoi’s Old Quarter lies a hidden area, where motorbikes are no longer the biggest danger to locals stepping outside of their front door. Local trains replace them, passing through the narrow residential street, just some feet away from mothers drying laundry or children playing along the tracks.
Hanoi Train Street is a must-see when visiting the city. Walk through the tracks and take a peek at the no nonsense daily lives of the resident, while waiting for the train to arrive. And once you hear it chugging along the tracks, make sure you’re within safe distance before capturing that Instragram-worthy shot.

Embrace Hanoi’s café culture
The Vietnamese – blending both Indochine and French influence – have put their own twist on coffee drinks to bring another dimension to the local Cafe Culture.
Elaborate French villa themes, industrial chic interiors and grungy design that evoke hipster havens are now the standard at many Hanoi coffee cafes. The friendly competition heats up as business owners aim to attract younger clientele who seek out unique social spaces and the perfect “selfie”, thus making Hanoi coffee scene as diverse as the delicious brew they serve.
Stay tuned, Mong hangs out with Jess a local fashion influencer as they try out local artisans’ offerings at:
- Hanoia House
- Vui Café
- RuNam Bistro
