Switching to mirrorless cameras, especially for photographers who currently own a collection of DSLR cameras and lenses, is a huge decision. Firstly, there is a concern for quality—sensor, image, speed; secondly, it is an investment to purchase a mirrorless camera and its accompanying lenses. However, with EOS R, the worries are unnecessary, and here is why.

An easy switch from DSLR to mirrorless

The wonderful thing about the EOS R system is that the camera is able to pair with Canon’s existing EF/EF-S lenses. All you need is an adapter. If you already own a number of EF/EF-S lenses, simply get an adapter, which allows you to equip the EOS R with any of your Canon lenses.

Essentially, EF-S lenses are designed for Canon APS-C* DSLRs (e.g. EOS 1500D), while EF lenses are made to work with full frame (e.g. EOS 5D Mark IV) and APS-C cameras. EF lenses such as EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM or EF 50mm f/1.4 USM, have a larger image circle, and they are designed to effectively cover both full frame and APS-C sensors. Whereas EF-S lenses like EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM and EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, which are lightweight, versatile and portable, are specifically for compact sized sensors.

Smaller and lighter

One of the best things about a mirrorless camera is its size and weight. It is significantly smaller and slimmer, yet does not compromise on the system and image quality. EOS R is a full frame mirrorless camera dedicated to both professional and leisure use, which means it is as useful as it is versatile for any occasion.

No problem shooting in the dark

The mirrorless camera comes with an impressive 30.3 megapixel full frame CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 8 Image Processor, which means its powerful system, among other qualities, allows you to take photos even in a really dark condition.
