New Premium Compact Digital Camera with One-inch Sensor

Scheduled for release in October 2014, the PowerShot G7 X is Canon's first high-end compact digital camera that is built in with a one-inch sensor. It possesses the characteristics of both the PowerShot G and the PowerShot S series, and is expected to be welcomed by lovers of premium compact digital cameras with a built-in lens.

The overall shape is reminiscent of the PowerShot S series. The size is bigger with the use of a larger-format sensor, but rest assured that its portability remains comparable to the S series.

The excellent operability of the stacked dial and the control ring can be seen as a quality that is inherited from the G series. The leather-like texture on the outside of the body also expresses a sense of elegance, making it an attractive premium compact digital camera.

Note that this article uses photos of the trial model, so its appearance may vary from the actual product.

Lens and Control Ring

f/1.8-2.8, 4.2x optical zoom lens with a focal length range equivalent to 24-100mm in the 35mm format.

Tilt-up Touch Screen

The three-inch Tilt-up touch screen with about 1,040,000 dots can be tilted upward for selfies to be captured easily. The screen is touch-sensitive.

The Tilt-up touch screen can be rotated upward by 180° for taking selfies.

The "Reverse Display" function can be set to On or Off.

Stacked Dial

The stacked dial is reminiscent of that on the PowerShot G series. The upper dial is for selecting a shooting mode, and the lower dial for exposure compensation.

Both the upper dial and the shutter button are marked with a red line at the base.

Wi-Fi

Comes with a built-in Wi-Fi function. A button for direct Wi-Fi connection is located on the side of the body.

Also supports NFC. The antenna is located at the base of the body.

Comes supplied with the CB-2LH Charger. Does not support USB charging.

AV/USB port (top) and HDMI terminal (bottom)

The camera body is built in with a pop-up flash.

The FUNC. (Function) menu is accessible from the shooting mode.

The FUNC. menu is customisable.

Strap Mount

The strap mount eyelet is very small, so you will have to use a strap with a string at the end.

Comes supplied with a simple hand strap.

Night Display

By setting "Night Display" to [On], you can choose a colour to improve the clarity of the menu screen when shooting under low-light conditions.
